Huntsville Youth Summit on HIV
The Huntsville Youth Summit on HIV was held at Trinity Methodist Church on Thursday, October 30, 2008. The keynote speakers were Tom Robertson, HIV Prevention Coordinator, AL Department of Public Health, Area 6; Ole Pete Key, Inc., Florence, Al; and Marvelyn Brown. The summit was a collaborative effort of AIDS Action Coalition of Huntsville, Alabama Department of Public Health, and the Focus Program.

Participating Schools included Bob Jones, Butler, Columbia, Florence, Grissom, Hazel Green, Huntsville Center for Technology, Johnson, Lee, Oxford, and the C.I.T.Y. Programs of Lauderdale County. There were 425 students pre-registered.

Breakout sessions were led Focus Program students from: Oxford High School, Bob Jones High School, and Huntsville Center for Technology. Other breakout sessions were led by Dr. Linda Dinerman, Shawn Ousley, and LaTeisha Brandon.

This event was co-sponsored by The Boeing Company, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, and the AIDS action Coalition in parnership with The Focus Program.

Exhibitors included: AIDS Action Coalition, Alabama Department of Public Health, Community Action Agency, Crisis Services of North Alabama, Decatur Youth Services, Dr. Linda Dinerman, Partnership for a Drug Free Community, The Focus Program, Redstone Federal Credit Union and the C.I.T.Y. Programs of Madison County.

Special thanks to Alabama State Representative Laura Hall. The event was a tremendous success.
